Deceased Name: RUTH B. STEIN

Ruth B. Stein, 97, Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Duluth, Minn., passed away Friday, July 11, 2003, in Scottsdale, where she had resided since 1994.

She was born in Eau Claire, Wis., and moved to Duluth after her marriage to Carl Stein. She was a member of Hadassah, the Council of Jewish Women, and Temple Israel. Ruth was also active in seeking sponsorship for Holocaust survivors immigrating into the U.S. after World War II. Her passion for bridge led to a Junior Life Master status.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Carl.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Fred Sherman of Scottsdale; grandson and wife Tom and Jill Sherman of Creve Coeur, Mo.; granddaughter Cynthia Sherman of Valdez, Alaska; and great grandsons Matthew and Andrew.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Temple Emanuel Cemetery on Woodland Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Silver Lecture Series at Temple Israel, 1602 E. 2nd St., Duluth, MN 55812, or to the Endowment Fund. Arrangments by Bell Brothers Funeral & Cremation Services, Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 E. 4th St.
